Michael Vaughan thinks that Garry Kirsten might be an ideal choice to replace Andy Flower as England test coach.

Flower left his post last week. So, the England Cricket Board is looking for his replacement and they have shortlisted some guys one of whom is believed to be Kirsten.

Kirsten is widely respected as an international coach. He has coached a couple of top teams i.e. India and South Africa so far and has been immensely successful with both those sides.

The one quality of Kirsten which everyone lauds a lot is that he remains very calm and composed. Also, he never tries to put too much pressure on the players. He just lets them enjoy the game and by doing that, he manages to get the best out of them.

Barring Kirsten, Australia’s former all rounder Tom Moody and England One Day International coach Ashley Giles are also in the race to take over as the Three Lions test coach, but, these two guys haven’t had as much success as Kirsten has had at the international level. So, the South African might leave them behind.

When Vaughan was asked who would be his pick as the next England test coach, he said, “I would say Garry Kirsten. For me, he is one of the greatest modern day coaches and having him in the set up would benefit England immensely.”
When asked about Andy Flower resigning, the former England captain said, “I think he made the right call. He had been around since almost 6 years and that’s enough for a coach. The time had come for him to leave.”

Under Andy Flower, England won a total of 3 Ashes series and all of them on the trot which was quite remarkable.
